Not a bad place, but not amazing. The atmosphere was pan flat and almost felt a unwelcoming at times.
The beds weren’t made on arrival, rooms very hot and it wasn’t the height of summer (October), the toilet bins were left with used toilet roll in (you can’t flush) for a long time so they stank really bad. Shower wasn’t great too.
Overall - not ideal. I’m not a fussy lad, but it wasn’t fantastic.

I've always trusted reviews, but can't understand how this place gets 10/10. Olga barely spoke to anyone and seemed unapproachable. Hostel is in a poor area, many abandoned houses, 20+ minute walk to the centre, though some buses run, nothing around but a corner shop 5 mins walk. Much potential with lots of outside space (no table/chairs?) and a room that'd make a great common area, but Olga hung out there. Only one sofa by the front desk and the kitchen. Beds/room comfortable with curtains.

This hostel is amazing. You will feel like part of a family here. Olga is the most amazing person with such a big heart. I had a bit of a scary situation with an airport taxi driver trying to extort me, but thankfully I had her number and she helped me with everything and called the police and translated for me (only use Yandex if you come to Kazakhstan). Despite this, I would come back just to stay here and hang out with the wonderful people.
