Since you’re visiting the City by the Bay, why not stay right on the waterfront? Located in historic Fort Mason, HI-San Francisco Fisherman’s Wharf is surrounded by National Park land on one side, and by the San Francisco Bay on the other. Just outside the hostel, take in breath-taking views of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge, then take an easy stroll to nearby Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39, or the posh Marina district.
To explore the rest of San Francisco, simply hop on a MUNI bus just outside the park, or join in on free or cheap hostel activities like pub crawls, walking tours, and museum visits. Heading further afield? Arrange your trip to Muir Woods, wine country, Yosemite, and beyond with our helpful front-desk staff.
Back at the hostel, relax on the sun deck, watch a movie in the theater-style cinema room, or curl up in front of the gas stove in our cozy communal lounge. Enjoy a free continental breakfast, including organic fruit and fair-trade coffee, at our on-site Cafe Franco. Later in the day, Cafe Franco serves homemade, organic lunch and dinner specials, as well as local beer and wine by the glass, to hungry travelers and locals alike. If you prefer to cook your own meals, a nearby supermarket makes it easy to take advantage of the hostel’s fully equipped guest kitchen and dining areas.
