Staff were absolutely wonderful and eager to help sort day trips and give advice, which created a lovely atmosphere. However, facilities were lacking - kitchen was well equipped but outside showers and no doors meant mosquitoes were prevalent and we came away with lots of bites despite using a lot of bug spray. The location is perfect, only a stones throw away from public access to the lagoon. With time, and some mosquito nets, this hostel could be one of the best in Bacalar.

We were hoping to love this place but it had many issues. Upstairs bathroom was not functional, shower head would barely drip water and drain was clogged. Toilet was 1 flush every hour. One other restroom was outside with no sink and one other shower was a pipe with falling water in the common area. Room was extremely hot with lots of fans. Kitchen seemed fine but didn’t want to stay long enough to use it. Staff were all very nice, but I cannot recommend.

I recently had the pleasure of staying here for a few days. I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff, and the accommodations were comfortable. Bacalar is a small but wondrous oasis, and Embajada, situated on a hill with picturesque views of the turquoise water, is perfectly located in the town, making the lake just as accessible as the fun local bars and restaurants! I wish I could have stayed longer but had to leave before the hurricane. I can't wait to return. Thanks for a lovely time!
