Looking for a nice place with a chilled vibe right at the beach? Big Surf House offers a home to all surfers and travelers looking for a great time. The hostel is located right at the beachfront in the middle of Guasacate (Popoyo). The famous surf break Popoyo is only a 5 minute walk away. In winter you can surf right in front of the hostel.
Big Surf House provides several private rooms with private bathroom. The 8-bed dorms have AC and private lockers. The accommodation features a big shared kitchen, an outside BBQ place, pool table, big chill area and a bar with the best sunset view where everyone gathers at night. There is free WiFi available.
At Big Surf House we offer a variety of activities and services for beginner - advanced surfers such as surf lessons, board rental and surf trips. Non-surfer? No worries. We also organise fishing trips, horseback riding and provide motorbike rental.

The volunteers were lovely and helped loads! The people and atmosphere are great but the hostel is so dirty everywhere needs a deep clean

Staff were never about, was woken up really early by people working on the roof and dust falling into my eyes and on the bed, the only hostel that gets powercuts, they charge extra for air conditioning and there wasn’t much of a social vibe.
Stay somewhere else
3.7 is a very high considering I only rated it 1,2 or 3 stars for the different categories.

Would not recommend this place. It’s a good spot and a lovely beach but the staff are basically non existent, and very hard to identify. The whole place genuinely smells of p*o and there’s about 2/3 power cuts a day which leads to incredibly hot dorms. It could be really good if those in charge cared about it but it seems they don’t. Wouldn’t recommend.
