The unspoiled nature, peaceful environment and a variety of recreation opportunities make Ósar an ideal stop in an Iceland tour. In only about 5 min walk you are in unusually close contact with nature. Here guests can see a number of different birds and one of Iceland´s biggest colonies of seals , swimming only a few meters from the beach.
Ósar is known as being a haven for nature lovers and history buffs alike as well as the scene of dramatic historical events, myths and folklore. Visit Hvítserkur, a 15 m high sea stack resembling a prehistoric dinosaur said to be an ancient troll petrified by the sunrise, or Illugastaðir and Þrístapar, the background for the events leading up to the last public execution in Iceland.
Ósar Hostel has a bar and a shared lounge. Free WiFi and a shared kitchen are offered.
All guest rooms at the hostel come with a seating area. With a shared bathroom, rooms at Ósar Hostel also have a sea view.

If you are looking for an idealistic getaway spot this it. To wake up to the sunrise and hear the surf pounding against the shore. Spending the night in a converted farm house is the place to be. Yes it off the beaten path, gravel road.

Super neat authentic house to stay in. The owner was also very nice and stayed up late with us talking about Iceland which was also a cool plus! There is an delicious restaurant down the street that has the best pan fried trout I’ve ever had. Quite area with not much else around but glad we stayed a night.
