HI - Faro Youth Hostel accommodates 60 guests in a choice of 1 twin ensuite bedroom, 4 twin rooms with shared sanitary facilities and 9 dorms with a capacity ranging from 4 to a maximum of 8 persons per room.
If you're planning to have a sun and beach holiday in the Algarve, then Hi - Faro Youth Hostel is definitely a great choice.
You can catch a boat to the islands which make up the Ria Formosa nature reserve. The reserve has an educational centre where you can see wildfowl, such as the sultana hen, or learn how the Portuguese water dog has been saved from extinction. The town of Faro itself is an interesting place, due to its historic heritage and its liveliness, very much related to the constant arrival of tourists from all corners of the world.
Breakfast is included in price.
Hostelling International membership card is required. Portuguese can buy it directly at any hostel. Foreigners should buy it in their home countries otherwise a supplement of 2 per night/per person will be charged to non-members.

My stay here in Faro was very enjoyable. I met some great people, the staff were super friendly, and the breakfast was awesome. The beautiful park next to the hostel was a bonus! The only drawbacks were the small beds and the kitchen, which was a little old and not the cleanest.

Pros: Good location. It's a ~20 minute walk from the train station. My friend and I left before breakfast but, upon request, they gave us breakfast in paper bags to take with us. Cons: No outlets by the beds. There are lockers, but only in the hallway; the ones in the rooms can't be locked. The peacocks outside are constantly loudly screaming all night (this isn't the hostel's fault of course, but was an issue).

The beds are quite uncomfortable and there is no way to lock the cabinets in your room (the lockers outside the rooms are limited in number and always in use) so didn't feel comfortable leaving valuables there. Otherwise there are plenty of showers/toilets, a nice terrace to meet people, free basic breakfast and right next to a supermarket
