Our small, bamboo and wooden made Hostel create a feeling of home and good vibes. Easy and chill out environment with the Caribbean Touch.

Roots is built in an open, typical carribean style and located at the heart of Puerto Viejo, only 100 meters from 'Parquecitos' Beach, 5 minutes walk for bars and restaurants and 300 m from the Bus Station.
The Beds in the Tree House Dorm provide bamboo and cane features as own locker (space enough for suitcases), lamp, outlet and a lot privacy!
The house has different common areas to enjoy and gather and have a good time while meeting new people. We have a common kitchen for use with all the implements and filtered Water. All beds have a mosqutio net.
We have the cutest cats and our Dog Jamie loves to give kisses.
Roots Family Policies and Conditions:
check in: 15:00 - 19:00
Please let us know when you arrive after 7pm to assure someone is around.
check-out: before 11:00
Check-outs after 11.00 will be charged 50% of daily Rate (Roots can store your bags if you leave the same day or come back to us with another reservation. We assume no liability for your bags.
Taxes not included - 13.00%
Payment in cash on your arrivaldate - Dollers or Colones
Cancellation Policy
Full Charge If cancelled within 1 days of arrival
30% of Full Stay - If cancelled within 2 days of arrival
No Charge - If cancelled within 3 days of arrival
The minimum age for check-in is 16
No private parking available. Public parking space around the Hostel - Roots family does not take legal responsibility for damage or theft.
Guests must be quiet between 22:00 and 07:00
Common kitchen is usable between 07:00 and 22:00
Pets are not allowed
Smoking is not allowed
Towels included in the private rooms - For the Dorm $3 per towel for use during your stay
We charge $3 in case of losing a key
we project release from any liability in case of natural disasters, loss of personal belongings, damage to your health or safety.

I like the location but the vibe is not for me.

We stayed in the dorm. I thought the set up of the dorm was very cool and unique. But it was much too hot! There was one small fan for 10 people but even if you stood next to it you couldn’t feel it. There were also only 2 toilets and showers for the whole hostel.
There seemed to be a lot of staff, too much even. About half the people staying there when we were there were “working†there. They seemed to take up a lot of space and it felt that we were intruding a bit

I got SO comfortable here, it really started to feel like coming home rather than coming back to a hostel. It’s super cozy! Plenty of couches, a few hammocks to chill on, yoga mats available. Staff & owner is so kind, sweet & helpful, always happy to answer any questions. There’s little kitties as well which always boosted the level of comfort. I genuinely miss the calm/peaceful/good vibes atmosphere. Location is minutes walk away from the beach, market, & restaurants.
