Camino Art House is your hide away place. We created a small farm style arty place for you to get inspired, connect to nature and meet similar travellers. You will find calmness and peace at this place. You will find tools to create. You will find silence outside and inside. You can take a walk on our hill side land and discover 2-300 years old caves, and 3-400 years old stone walls. We have a dog and cats. You can arrive with yours too.
Camino Art House is located in San Mateo, in the heart of Gran Canaria, about 600 meters high in the green mountains. San Mateo is famous of farming and land cultivation, also good destination for nature lovers, it is a nice walk to reach the highest point of the island (Pico de las Nieves) from here. The house works as an artist residency during summer.
With your booking you agree to support our association and participate our activities: workshops and botanical walks in nature. Your booking price is equal with the entrance fee of our onsite art gallery.

It’s cheap, cheerful, full of all sorts of people from different walks of life and different cultures. This was my second stay here, it’s just a brilliant atmosphere of live and let live. You can go to bed at 8pm or be playing the spoons at 11pm and nobody will judge. By 11.30, all is quiet until around 8am. It’s a miss-mash of people all getting on with their day/holiday in the nicest way. It’s not for everyone though. Good bus links and a 30 min walk to nearest supermarket. Great walking area

Much of this hostel relies on the lovely volunteers onsite- I've seen reviews of Camino complaining about cleanliness/ hygeine but we didn't really experience this. The hostel was v well maintained + the home cooking on offer was wonderful. Be warned, some nights or mornings there is a rush - be in the queue in good time or no food! Best if you're an outdoorsy person, you need to not be snubbish about furnishings here. I'd love to see some regular weekly free workshops, maybe life drawing etc
