Arka Hostel opened the doors since 2015. Arka Hostel and Bar are part of ARKA Youth Center, a well known NGO in Shkodra supporting youth and culture development.
In the heart of Shkodra, close to the city center, ARKA Hostel allows you to discover easily the the city. Our hostel is a 3 floor Villa with an artistic, friendly and relaxing atmosphere. It’s surrounded by an wonderful garden furnished with chairs and tables where you can relax, socialize and have a drink at our beautiful bar. Many of our guests say they 'would always go back' to this hostel when in Shkodra. The 'knowledgeable', 'lovely and helpful' staff are frequently praised for providing 'very focused, personalized attention' to guests, while visitors can 'meet new people and have a good laugh' in the downstairs multi-functional bar. Our rooms are very clean and we offer the best quality in town for low price. Whether you're a backpacker or a budget traveler, you will enjoy Arka Hostel. Arka Hostel is located in the Shkodra City Center, near the only city cinema. You can visit all interesting sights in 5 to 10 minutes from our property. The Witness and Memory site (communism museum) is only 2 minutes walk from Arka. Marubi, National Photography Museum is only 5 minutes walk from Arka. Main churches and mosques are not more than 5 minutes. The historical part of the city is 2 minutes walk from Arka.
A shared kitchen very well equipped is available for or guests. Further in the ground floor there is Arka Bar where breakfast, for those who prefer brioches, coffee espresso or cappuccino (included in the price) is available. The bar is the fantastic place to make new friends and to participate in the cultural events that Arka Youth Centre organises almost every day. Free Wi-Fi. Free linen. Im generally not fussy but really wouldnt recommend this hostel. Theres no reception, the staff dont help you at all. They close the gate at 11pm and theres no one there to let you in, despite it saying "no curfew" on Hostelword. A cat shat on the couch in the kitchen, we told the staff about it and they said the cleaner would clean it in the morning. it was still there when we were checking out. Really unclean. It has such potential, with a lovely outdoor garden, bar and balconies but bad staff

I really appreciated my stay at Arka. I planned to stay one night but stayed for 4! After doing the Peaks of the Balkans hike, I appreciated the quiet atmosphere, extremely comfortable beds, washing and drying facilities and a shared room to myself. This is not a very social hostel (at least not at the end of September/the season) but was perfect for me who needed recovery, cleanliness, comfort and her own space after hiking. The free breakfast (coffee+croissant) at the bar is also a treat.
