We offer regularly scheduled sunrises and sunsets, a direct view of Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), and on clear days, snow capped Ganesh Himal and parts of the Lantang range. Our friendly and attentive staff will work to assure all of our guests will have an enjoyable stay and an opportunity to mix with other travelers in the true hostel spirit.
Located in the quiet outskirts of Thamel, Shantipur is one of cozy hostels in the Kathmandu Valley. We offer free wireless fiber optic internet throughout the building, 24 hour power, a free secure store room for those trekking, wall fans in each room, and hot showers on each floor. Our restaurant offers Nepali, Continental, and Israeli food, and serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks from 07:30 to 22:30 - and our bar promises cold beer and late night conversations with fellow travelers.
1. Check-in Time: from 12:00.
2. Check-out Time: before 11:00.
3. Payment: Full balance must be paid in cash only upon checking in.
4. Cancellation Policy: Up to 1 day advance notice before the arrival date is required.

I really wanted to like this place but the bathrooms were horrendous. The staff were nice and accommodating but it looked like the shared bathrooms were cleaned 1x a day. Other than that, beds were clean and rooms were fine

The hostel has a very authentic feel and I instantly felt at home. I stayed for 10 days and didn't want to leave. I will definitely return when I'm next in Kathmandu.
The rooms are bright and airy with a bathroom on each floor and separate toilets, all of which are meticulously cleaned regularly.
The owners and family are super friendly and helpful. There are two areas for chilling out and the vibe of the hostel is great

Dope location with an awesome view of the city. The rooftop is perfect for meeting people and the staff is SO friendly. They really make you feel at home. My only warning is the bathrooms are really not clean at all and the showers are not the best.
