Green Guest House

The night I arrived was the eclipse, which the hostel staff told me everyone watches on the rooftop. This was very cool and the atmosphere at the top was very nice with a bonfire and music and people chatting. The bed though was quite uncomfortable and you could hear the street quite well. To take the ferry to Yakushima the location is perfect.

When I walked up to my room it smelt a lot like smoke throughout the hallway. The staff were really rushing me as I checked in. The facility wasn't very clean. Not my most comfortable stay. It is very cheap, so that is good, but I wouldn't stay there again.

Hiro, the receptionist, was accommodating. He spoke pretty good English, he explained everything, and he was welcoming. There was another guy there, who seemed to be the manager, also friendly, but didn't talk as much. The place was pretty clean, except for some minor things ( floor/shower/ bathroom, etc.) Value could have been a bit cheaper. Although I did reserve a private room, there wasn't much to it, but a balcony to a noisy street outside. I enjoyed my stay.
