If you want to stay in Batumi - and that is entirely your lookout - you could do a lot worse than staying here.
I understand, of course, that Georgia needs to earn foreign currency. But they have taken a handsome port and resort; they have turned it into a cultural desert and called it "investment". The casinos and hotels have sucked all the energy out of the city; there is no nightlife to speak of; no restaurants or cafes open after about 10 at night. Batumi has no soul, no life. Don't come.
