Tucked into the mountain jungle and sitting on a river, La Casa del Pozo Azul encompasses all the beauty and diversity of Minca, Colombia.
This serene gateway is nestled under the canopy, about a beautiful 20-minute (2.1km) walk from the Minca town center. It is burrowed in the depths of La Sierra Nevada De Santa Marta, the tallest costal mountain in the world! This quaint hostal provides a relaxing home base for all those coming to experience the rich nature of Minca.
Location is as key as it is to you as it is to us. Our love for Minca at La Casa del Pozo Azul comes from its infinite allure, from the small to the grand. The location of this hostel was chosen to be slightly off the beaten path so that the scenery is right in front of you and the adventure is all around you. Not only can you hear tranquil sounds of the running river, but you can also go right in with only a few seconds away! It?s truly hard to beat a cooling dip in the Caribbean mountains on a hot, humid day! All around the hostal is abundant wildlife with a vast array of different species of birds and other animals. Day and night, only the soothing sounds of the jungle can be heard.
Not the honking of taxis, not revving of motorcycles. Thinking it might be too remote? Have no fear, when you are looking for adventure, the best hiking that Minca has to offer is only minutes away! And while more remote than some hostels in Minca, La Casa del Pozo Azul does not lack on all the amenities you need to both work or play! Guests can enjoy our onsite Italian restaurant and bar for food and drink.
The hostal has numerous spacious indoor and outdoor common areas with comfortable seating and gorgeous views of the sounding nature. Places to chat with new friends or enjoy some solitude. Shortly after I arrived, saw a cat in the dorm. Told staff I'm allergic, so please keep the door closed. Day 2 after they cleaned, they left the door open so when I returned from hiking the cat was in the room again. Do not stay here if you have allergies. Also, no working fan in the dorm so it gets very hot, especially on top bunk. Only cold showers. Bathroom door didn't lock. 2 lockers in 4 bed dorm. Burger comes w/ mayo & raw onions, not carmalized. Pets try to eat your food. Dog barks at 5am

amazing place, I really enjoyed staying here. one down side is due to the location our room was very moist. I probably wouldn't stay here if I had a mould allergy.

Awesome staff, special mention to Benoit who was a great help. Beautiful room and location, right on the river with private access. Property is out of town but it’s a nice walk. Fully equipped industrial kitchen to use, and wifi only in shared spaces. If you need transport, you can only reach the property on a bike which is a rocky ride! Breakfast provided was also really delicious. Due to a tour we were going to arrive 10mins after breakfast hours so staff accommodated and kept it aside for us. Highly reco
